Sometimes the world is a series of reasons to stay in bed. And at other times to go running out into the world face up to the sun or feet splashing in puddles.

I’ve been seeing beauty in words and in people and in the complex relationships that surround me. For some reason I’m lusting over objects as well.

This coming weekend I’ll be lusting over brain food. All the weekend seats are spoken for but there are still single tickets for the Friday session.  There are folks coming from out of town. There are single and couples. Folks of all orientations and genders. Yep. genders too. Might be full to bursting by the end of it all.

Can’t wait to share.

Ah life…

Been wondering what it up these days. It’s like the whole world is being affected. People’s behaviour no longer seems predictable even when I factor in the natural stuff of human nature.

Which leads me to think about what it is in relationships with clearly articulated power dynamics that leads us to think that the “rules” in place will make them predictable. ‘Cause they aren’t. Not really. At best what we set up in our lives function like the stop signs at intersections.

Everyone knows what is supposed to happen. But at best they serve as guidelines. Some folks stop. But not all the time.Some folks do that slow down “rolling stop” thing. But not all the time. Some folks speed on through thinking no one will see them or care and that there willbe no consequences. But not all the time.

This weekend was the D/s Dinner Salon. Except this time, it was a pleasant tea with almost 20 people. We met, chatted about community and ate FANTASTIC food. The hosts were two of the loveliest people I have met over the past couple years. Committed to their dynamic and to a continued path of learning that will strengthen their interactions. It’s a pleasure to be around.

I find that spending time around people interested in thinking deeply about what they do to be extremely relaxing. And easier than being with folks who would rather talk about the weather or the movie they saw or the latest horror in the news.

It’s relaxing to step out of my meat suit around like minded people. I breathe deep and gratefully. It’s nourishing. There’s a big difference between chewing on something worth masticating at length and mentally wandering off to find relief from the mundane inside my skull. Continue reading »
