Doing relationships with intentional power dynamics

SO EXCITED!
The news for this week is that I’ve engaged Lee Harrington to come to Vancouver for a 3-day D/s Intensive. Happening October 2, 3, 4, it is going to be QUITE the fabulous thing. I’m prepared to loose my shirt on it because it would cost me about as much to fly to another city, stay in a hotel, and eat constipating food. So I figured, “why not bring the conference to me and share the person who is coming with whomever wants to join me? Details to come my lovelies. Watch this site, or my Twitterfeed, or catch me on Facebook.
This, of course, has been thrown off it’s launch and marketing by PRIDE in Vancouver. It’s like all of August is one big scheduling puzzle wherein I try to figure out how to be as Gay as possible while wringing the very last drops out of the summer weather before it starts to cool down. For me, below 23 degrees starts to feel cool. See my problem?
Speaking (writing?) of heat, the other thing dominating the past week has been the heat. I love it. Don’t get me wrong. But LAWD. It’s the humidity, ultimately, that makes me stoopid and irritable beyond anything. What always fascinates me is how one can see the foibles in others at a time like that but not in ones self. I always end up kicking myself for not being a better person.
I also decided this past week that I really need to do more to engage the artist in me. It’s SCREAMING like a sadist without a victim to get out and have some fun. It’s the auditioning I’ve been doing. Some really good roles that made me happy to perform in the room. Did work come of it? No. But it’s a long journey back from being so sick the past couple of years. so expect more arts and culture coverage. Or not. I’m fickle.

Age Play by Lee Harrington - Published by Greenery Press
I’ve got Littles in my life. And I’ve been known to haul out my own pre-pubescent bad-babysitter to torment those within my focus. In February 2008 I wet to a fab session facilitated by Lee, and a woman named Satin who is also a little.
Now he’s come out with a resource.
Lee Harrington has added to the pocket toybag series (Greenery Press) with an Ageplay book. First of it’s kind I would think. Picked up a copy at Little Sister’s here in Vancouver to add to my bookshelf. 100 pages of info and some resources too.
From the Greenery Press website:
Adult babies, sassy schoolgirls, bratty teens – all hold an honored place in the erotic roleplaying imagination of many adults. You’ll learn how to express yourself through your ageplay role, choose a level of play that feels safe yet exciting, negotiate to be sure your needs get met, and find great props and equipment to inspire your play.
Oh the conversations I get into.
So it came down to shows like Dexter, Nip Tuck, surgical improvement/intervention shows are feed/food. I’ve been hearing about the History Channel airing something today about the history of torture?
I remember the open scene of a recent James Bond film where our hero was being tortured in a Chinese(?) prison. I turned to the person beside and confessed that some of it was working for me. I’d seen versions of some of that activity in my local dungeon scene.
Which leads me into thinking about Lee Harrington’s workshop at LeatherReign, Inner Demons: Delving into the Darkness of Our Desires. I mentioned it at the last D/s Dinner/salon.
So.
Feed? Food? Other?
!K
A dominant I know was writing a while back about the Pandora’s Box of deep D/s that leaves a dominant in a place of unsatisfied want and need for energetic connection.
I remember a period of time when I discovered needles. In fact, what it was was a scene where a woman was being stapled. And the gun was offered to me. And I did it… and this HUGE THING reared it’s head at me and I had to walk away. I was VERY shaken and didn’t go near bloodsports for over a year. And just being around it caused my poor senses to start going on overload.
I remember being in this nasy funk after a SPECTACULAR weekend and having the person I was with look at me and say “Top Drop, Ma’am?” that moment has stuck with me.
What a good time. I feel more balanced and centred and grounded than I have in a while. I’m inspired to continue the conversation live and in person through D/s dinners. Anyone interested?
So in addition to the several sessions described in the list below, I also did the following two brown bag luncheons. And I brought back handouts for everything that had ‘em!

- :: Parental Power Dynamics (Lee Harrington and Satin)
I went to this last year and was, generally, pleased by the content. It was nice to go to a conference that was more than 101 in a variety of areas. http://www.leatherreign.org
If you missed Leather Reign last year, you missed the start of a great addition to the Seattle area BDSM community. They are still lining up presenters for 2008 but so far our confirmed presenters include Fifth Angel, Robert Rubel, Lee Harrington, Robyn Friedman, Scott Smith, Coral Mallow, and master Bob and slave jan.
Leather Reign is intended to address three core areas;
1) Why we do what we do, what is in it for us? – This may involve some technique, but the focus will be on why it is done instead of how. Last year master Skip presented his Thunder Kiss workshop which is an excellent example of this type of class.
2) Dominance and Submission/Mastery and Slavery/Service topics – These topics will include subjects such as the way relationships are structured, the calling to a BDSM role, the formalities of service etc.
3) How-to at the 201 level and above – These will include different forms of edge play, advanced techniques, or creative forms of BDSM.
This is gonna be juicy…
