Most of the suggestions I have are included in the description of the event. In addition, I would suggest that you bring a friend or two with you to increase your comfort level. Know that folks do all kinds of things. One year a group of about five women did facial masks and peels all night. Another year, a woman offered free massages to folks. This year a guest has threatened to bring a banjo! Generally, folks are friendly and open to conversation. Some are open to connecting beyond that. You can always come find me or co-host Elaine and introduce yourself with birthday greetings! We’re happy in turn to introduce you to others! Does that begin to answer your question? Hello Lady Kona,

I have followed your blog recently as we have may have a few things in common. Sure you may run bath house events for women only. I do but as the event allows single men in (usually it’s more for couples and single ladies and one day of the month separate for Women and Trans night only). If you ever come out to Toronto on a visit, love to chat and pick your brain. I shall be returning to Vancouver for a week in June.

I’ve not read most of that site, but they have one of the best sections about what differenties bdsm from abuse I’ve come across.

As to the compatibility of religions with hink, that’s something many people struggle badly with. Ultimately, everyone has to come to his or her own conclusion about how to integrate the two ideologically.

Accessibility = not at all. This below street-level sauna has a lot of stairs leading down. No elevator. Once the multiple stairs are navigated, everything else is on a single level, but the two washroom stalls are small.

Allergens: We’ll have no strawberries present. Conventional grooming products are generally absent. Eucalyptus sees frequent use.

Well, if you are in Vancouver you are certainly welcome to attend. It’s a public event! Whether you consider yourself cute or not has nothing to do with whether you are welcome. And believe me, there are definitely people who, over the years, have attended on their own. As a group of people we make every effort to be as welcoming as possible. If you are a new face, you can bet someone will come up to you and make an introduction. Use your willingness to show up to over come your fear of attending alone. I would be interested in visiting the bathhouse, as some of my Toronto friends were busted in the Pussy Palace and some of my gay male friends frequent the male bathhouses in Calgary (past tense) and Toronto. Who do I contact? I don’t want to go alone… I’m cute.

Wow… really great, intelligent post.

I have certain extended family members that call me by a family nickname. No one else may do so. I’ve had other people overhear that and try and call me by my nickname and I’ve jerked them up in a NY second. In their shock and surprise they say, but so-and-so calls you that. I give them the same answer you state above.

It’s just inappropriate. Short and sweet. At the very least they are taking liberties with what you’ve allow another to use.

“No, I’m not calling you racist, I’m calling you inappropriate”. I wonder if they would be any less surprised or offended that you called them on “inappropriate”. :)

I agree that non-POC have just as strong a reaction to the word racist, and that was an interesting observation.

Hell, I could say more, but it’s just an overall excellent post. See you at IMsL!
