You read that one right.
Take one Small Brown Package born on the Canadian Prairies ensure equal parts of black and gay, mix with epithets and whole lot of talent and you get Barend Mackenzie.
Xtra West recently did a wonderful article on him and the show. Having Natasha Barsotti on staff is ensuring that the queer content of the paper has more colour that it has had in many a year before she joined the staff.
Once a month Xtra West hosts a Cultural Series at Cafe Deux Soleils on Commercial Drive. It was there that I saw a 15 minute excerpt of this show. What a power house actor. What a compelling story.

Black, queer and prairie born. I can’t wait to see the whole thing.
