There’s this interesting thread in the anonymous section of a forum I belong to. It’s about: Racism and Racialization.

I was gonna post there and decided that I needed to keep my unformed stuff over here where I can keep my thoughts separate from being seen as direct responses… LOL!

Hmmmm… I find it interesting that the subject causes so many strong feelings on BOTH sides. That there is anger on BOTH sides (POC/non-POC). And that anger seems to be about people saying “I hate this and want it to stop making me feel horrible!” Which is a CLEAR indication to me that EVERYONE suffers from the overt/covert systemic/endemic crap we deal with in North America (my living experience) day in and day out. And a big part of that is that none of us like generalizations that take away our agency.

As as the demographics in the nations that “have” shift… that gonna become more extreme. Let’s face it folks Martin Luther King died 40 years ago. The official abolition of slavery was declared a scant 150 years ago. That’s not a lot of generations. That’s not a lot of time. And the transmission of values connected with HUMAN RIGHTS, on a global scale is still occurring. Sure. it’s picked up speed in the last 50 years with the proliferation and access of media and travel, but there are LOTS of folks with TOXIC with still walking around and transmiting values and occupying positions of power.

And like the march of technology, the consciousness of some has adapted to the present reality more easily than others. Example: raise your hand if you work in a corporation/organization/institution that is reluctant to let you use instant messaging, portable drives, wikis, blogs, access social networking sites, or that restricts access to CD/DVD burners or VPN or…. We’re talking about turning around BIG ASSED ships.

I ain’t got a hate on for white people. Most of my friends are white **grinz**. And when I look around I see all of us living with the effects of this toxic human waste.

It’s funny… I’ve been thinking lately about hierarchy. Mostly in a D/s context, but also as it relates to race, survival, and getting one’s needs met. It’s a human affliction. One that within the somewhat common understanding of the scene we **negotiate**.

More thinking needed…
